Alternately, if this programming is beyond their capability, they should just bar home uniforms from being darker than yellowish rather than allow blended colours (for instance, in case you have a black court, then you cannot pick some of those dark coloured balls to your team, or NBA 2K MT even to put it a different way, they will just exhibit the light colored balls when you are selecting the ball after the court. If you select the ball first and then attempt to choose a mixed, rather than a contrasting court colour, it will direct you from doing so. The ball and the court are in the screen 2K may easily construct that logic in there.
This is a pretty major oversight when they place the Lakers away whites in some spotlight challenges, thereby creating the issue of all 10 players on the court wearing white.
